Segments & Personas - Step 3
The Segments & Personas step defines who this specific campaign is targeting. You choose between two approaches: AI-generated audience segments (more dynamic, AI-optimized) or selecting personas directly from your strategy (more controlled, persona-driven content).

Prerequisites
A strategy must be selected in Step 2 before this step is available. If no strategy is selected, a warning is shown and the approach options are locked.
Choosing an Approach
When you arrive at this step with no prior selection, two option cards are presented:
Option A — AI-Generated Segments ✨
The AI analyzes your strategy's audience data and generates distinct audience segments — each one a targeted sub-group of your total audience with specific demographics, geographics, interests, and behaviors.
Best for:
- Broad campaigns targeting multiple customer types
- When you want the AI to find the most impactful micro-audiences automatically
- Campaigns where reach and diversity matter more than persona specificity

After selecting this option, the Segment Generation panel opens (see below).
Option B — Strategy Personas
Choose one or more personas directly from the personas you created in your strategy. The AI uses the selected personas as the audience lens for generating goals, messages, and posts.
Best for:
- Campaigns designed for a very specific customer type
- When you've already done persona work in the strategy and want to apply it directly
- Targeted campaigns (e.g., a campaign specifically for "The Budget-Conscious Shopper" persona)

Select personas by clicking their cards. A maximum of 5 personas can be selected per campaign.
AI Segment Generation

When using the AI Segments approach:
- Optionally describe any additional targeting context in the input field
- Click Generate Segments
- The AI produces segments based on your strategy's full audience profile
Each generated segment includes:
- Segment name
- Demographic profile
- Geographic focus
- Interests and behaviors
- Pain points relevant to your product
Segments can be regenerated at any time. Regenerating replaces all current segments.
Switching Approaches
You can switch between approaches by going back to the selection cards. Switching from Personas to Segments (or vice versa) clears the previous selection — you'll need to re-configure the new approach.
Tips
- Segments are best when you want the AI to write copy that speaks to multiple distinct groups within one campaign.
- Personas are best when you've carefully crafted persona profiles in your strategy and want the content to feel personal and targeted.
- If your strategy has no personas yet, you'll need to use the AI Segments approach.
