Creating a Strategy
This guide walks you through creating a new Social Strategy and filling in each of its 7 tabs.
Before You Start
Have the following ready before you begin:
- Business name and a short description of your product or service
- Pricing tier — e.g. "$29/month" or "Premium"
- Geographic focus — city, country, or global
- Strategy date range — a start and end date (1–3 months works well for the Editorial Calendar)
You don't need everything figured out — the AI fills gaps — but the more detail you provide, the better the output.
Step 1 — Open the Create Dialog
- Go to Strategies in the sidebar.
- Click + Create Strategy in the top-right corner.
- A dialog appears asking for a Strategy Name.

Give your strategy a descriptive name. Good names include the brand, time period, or goal:
"BloomSkin — Q3 2026""Company Brand Awareness — Full Year 2026""Product Launch — September"- Press Enter or click Create.
The strategy is created via the API and you are immediately taken to the Strategy Editor at /strategies/[id]/create.
Step 2 — The Strategy Editor

The editor opens on the Business Goals tab. The header shows:
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| ← Back arrow | Returns to the Strategies list |
| Strategy name | Displayed as a heading; set from the creation dialog |
| Unsaved changes indicator | Shows "Unsaved changes" or "All changes saved" below the name |
| Stop Processing button | Appears only when an AI job is running |
| Save Strategy button | Saves all tabs; disabled when there are no unsaved changes |
A sticky 7-tab bar sits just below the header:
Business Goals | Target Audience | Competitive Analysis | Platform Selection | Personas | Editorial Calendar | KPIs
Tip: Work through the tabs left to right — each tab's AI generation depends on the data from the tabs before it.
Step 3 — Business Goals Tab

Fill in the core business information. See [Business Goals Tab](./tabs/01-business-goals.md) for a full field reference.
Required to enable AI generation:
- Business Model (B2C or B2B)
- Strategy Type (Product or Service)
- Business Name
- At least one location setting (Global, Specific Locations, or Landmark + Country)
Once all required fields are filled, click Start Process.

The AI analyzes your inputs and generates a full Target Audience profile. A progress indicator appears. When complete, the editor automatically switches to the Target Audience tab.
Step 4 — Target Audience Tab

Review and edit the 8 AI-generated audience segments. Every segment is a set of editable tag chips — remove tags that don't fit, add your own.
The 8 segments are: Demographics, Geographic, Psychographic, Behavioral, Technographics, Needs & Pain Points, Media Consumption, Competitive Environment.
See [Target Audience Tab](./tabs/02-target-audience.md) for detail on each segment.
Important: All 8 segments must have content before you can generate Personas or Platform Recommendations.
Step 5 — Competitive Analysis Tab

Click Analyze Competitors to have the AI identify and profile your key competitors. The analysis runs sequentially per competitor with a live progress tracker.

See [Competitive Analysis Tab](./tabs/03-competitive-analysis.md) for detail on competitor card fields, Deep Research, and Quick Research.
Step 6 — Platform Selection Tab

Click Get AI Recommendations to generate a list of recommended social platforms based on your Target Audience data. Toggle platforms on or off, and manually add any platform from the available list.
See [Platform Selection Tab](./tabs/04-platform-selection.md) for the full platform list.
Important: At least one platform must be selected before Personas can be generated.
Step 7 — Personas Tab

Set the number of personas you want (2–5 is typical), then click Generate Personas (✨). The AI builds each persona one by one, showing a live progress tracker with the current persona name and estimated time remaining.
See [Personas Tab](./tabs/05-personas.md) for persona card fields and editing.
Prerequisites:
- All 8 Target Audience segments must have content
- At least one platform must be selected in Platform Selection
Step 8 — Editorial Calendar Tab

Click Fetch Calendar to populate the calendar with holidays, cultural occasions, and seasonal moments relevant to your location and date range. You can also add custom events manually.
See [Editorial Calendar Tab](./tabs/06-editorial-calendar.md) for navigation, event details, and the Add Event form.
Prerequisites: Start Date and End Date must be set in Business Goals, and a location must be configured.
Step 9 — KPIs Tab

Set your target metrics across three accordion sections: Reach & Awareness, Engagement, and Other Metrics. Choose the time period (Daily / Weekly / Monthly / Quarterly / Yearly) that these targets apply to.
You do not need to fill every field — focus on what matters for your current strategy phase.
See [KPIs Tab](./tabs/07-kpis.md) for the full metric list.
Step 10 — Save
Click Save Strategy in the header at any point to save your progress. The button is enabled whenever unsaved changes exist.

After saving, the unsaved changes indicator updates to "All changes saved".
Note: The strategy is saved in Draft status by default. To use it in a campaign, change its status to Active from the Strategies list (⋮ menu → Edit → status can be changed from the list page).
Step 11 — Link to a Campaign
Once your strategy is Active, select it when creating a new campaign (sidebar → Campaigns → + New Campaign → Strategy Selection step). The AI will use the strategy's audience, personas, platforms, and KPI context to generate posts for that campaign.
👉 See [Creating a Campaign](../campaigns/02-creating-a-campaign.md) for the full campaign walkthrough.
